Leah Fairbank's Workshop.
Leah Fairbanks came to Australia from America to teach to three day workshops. I had the privilege of being in the first one.
Leah showed us several different types of flowers, simple and complex canes and a vessel bead.
We were also able to purchase some of Leah's beautiful floral beads and some dichroic glass with exclusive patterns on it.
I am sorry that there aren't more photos but I was so busy writing notes and watching that I didn't get much of a chance to take photos.
Leah making an encased yellow cane for a sunflower which was on a hollow bead.
Natalie, who organised the class.
Leah's 'little helper', Susan who is a fantastic bead maker in her own right. (We were VERY spoilt!)
Cutting the cane into sections.
Carli protecting herself in case the glass starts flying as Leah turns a bouder of goldstone into a rubino encased cane.
The goldstone completely encased in rubino.
Double torches to melt the gather fully.
No, it isn't the class going up in flames!
This is what happens when the 'paparazzi' all click at once.
Joining the puntils to both ends of the gather.
Leah and Susan beginning to pull the cane.
Leah and Susan continuing to pull the cane.
This looks like a photo you would use for a funny caption competition.
Everyone holding the cane as it is cut into sections.
Continuing the sectioning.
As you can see, the class was a burning success filled with bright sparks.
